LinkedIn Post Formatter

Free LinkedIn Post Formatter

Our free LinkedIn post formatter turns plain text into posts with bold, italic and script styles, bullet and numbered lists, a live LinkedIn-style preview and a 3,000-character counter — free, no signup, and your text never leaves your browser.

LinkedIn’s post editor is plain text only — there is no built-in bold or italic button. This LinkedIn text formatter works around that with Unicode characters: style your text here, copy it, and paste it into LinkedIn, where it displays exactly as formatted.

1. Style your text — select words first, then click a format (nothing selected = whole post)

2. Turn lines into a list

Formatting uses Unicode characters, which LinkedIn displays as styled text in posts, comments and profiles. A few styles have no matching characters for digits or some symbols — those characters are left exactly as they are, never removed. LinkedIn may also count some styled characters and emojis as more than one character, so leave a little headroom under the 3,000 limit.

How it works

  1. Type or paste your post draft into the box.
  2. Select the words you want to style and click a format — Bold, Italic, Script, Monospace and more. With nothing selected, the format applies to the whole post.
  3. Use the list buttons to turn lines into bullet, numbered or arrow lists, and check the live preview and character count as you go.
  4. Click Copy formatted post and paste it straight into LinkedIn.

Example

Before: “Big news — I just launched my first course. Here are 3 things I learned: plan first, write second, publish third.”
After: “𝐁𝐚𝐠 𝐧𝐞𝐪𝐬 — I just launched my first course. Here are 3 things I learned:
• Plan first
• Write second
• Publish third”

Tips

  • Your first line is the hook. LinkedIn shows only the first couple of lines before the “see more” link, so put your strongest line first — and bold it if it helps.
  • Use formatting sparingly. Bold a headline or a key phrase; a whole post in bold is harder to read, not easier.
  • Break your post into short paragraphs with a blank line between them — walls of text get skipped in the feed.
  • Use bullets or numbered lists for steps and takeaways. Lists are much easier to scan than the same points separated by commas.
  • Keep hashtags to 3–5 relevant ones and put them at the end of the post.
  • Stay under LinkedIn’s 3,000-character limit, and leave a little headroom — some styled characters and emojis can count as more than one character.

FAQ

How do I bold text in a LinkedIn post?

LinkedIn has no bold button, so use this formatter: select the words in the box above, click Bold, copy the post and paste it into LinkedIn. The bold effect comes from Unicode characters, which LinkedIn displays as bold text.

Is this LinkedIn post formatter free?

Yes — it’s free forever, with no signup and no limits. Format as many posts as you like.

Does LinkedIn support bold and italic natively?

No. The LinkedIn post editor accepts plain text only, with no bold, italic or underline controls. Formatting tools like this one use Unicode characters that look like styled text, and LinkedIn displays them in posts, comments and profile text.

What is LinkedIn’s character limit for posts?

3,000 characters, according to LinkedIn’s Help Center. The counter above tracks your draft against that limit live, with a warning as you get close.

Will Unicode formatting affect my reach?

There is no evidence that formatting itself hurts reach. What can hurt is readability: a post styled from start to finish is hard to scan, styled words are not matched by LinkedIn search like normal text, and some screen readers read styled characters poorly. Use formatting for short emphasis — a hook, a heading, a key phrase — and keep the body in plain text.

Is my text uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything runs locally in your browser — your draft is never sent to a server, which is also why the tool works instantly as you type.
